Meet the Maker: Sharissa of Erin and Avery Studio Co.
The Sable Collective is all about celebrating our makers since they're the main core of our brand and values. The "Meet the Makers" series is about telling the stories of the people behind some of your favorite Sable brands. With the holiday season right around the corner, we wanted to know how our makers is handling the chaos of the holiday season and which of their products would make as great gifts. For this special edition of "Meet the Makers" we wanted to chat with one of our makers that is exclusively at our pop up shop at the Christmas Village. Erin and Avery Studio Co. is a Black owned business with a specialty of candles that bring amazing scents and even better atmosphere.
We had a chance to speak with Sharissa, owner of Erin and Avery to learn a little more about the person behind the brand.

1.) As a small business owner, how do you prepare for the holiday season? How do you manage all the chaos that comes with the holidays personally and professionally?
In the candle industry, the holiday season is highly seen as “candle season” as many customers choose to gift candles or purchase for personal use to create an ambiance around their home related to festivities, gatherings, or just a personal vibe. I always look at candle season as a chance to get creative by offering limited edition candles. My favorite part with offering limited edition candles is having the opportunity to play around with new scents and vessels!
I’ve always loved how scents evoke memories, so I love the thought of having a small part in helping others build fond memories of their holidays!
When it comes to the holiday chaos, I try to take everything in stride both personally and professionally by attempting to maintain a good work life balance. However, that’s easier said than done. When I’m not pouring candles or packaging orders, I try to do the majority of my holiday shopping online during the evenings and spending my weekends hanging out with my family and adding holiday decor around our home.
2.) What is your favorite holiday memory that you have that you would like to share?
One of my favorite holiday memories is from 2011. Going into November, I found out I was going to be a mother (Nyla Erin)! Then on Christmas Day my then boyfriend (now husband) surprised me with tickets to go see Spiderman on Broadway in January. After we went to see the play, he took me to the Empire State Building. We went all the way to the top floor; it was there that he proposed to me! That holiday season began a whole new chapter into my life.

3.) Which products from your brand would make for perfect gifts for this holiday season?
Our limited-edition Inhale & Exhale duo is a perfect gift! The duo includes 2 candles and a complimentary tote embossed with Inhale & Exhale that I custom designed. I named the duo Inhale & Exhale because these two simple words can be so powerful when it comes to bringing you back to re-centering yourself both mentally and physically. The Inhale candle is Brown Sugar + Nutmeg, best described as an inviting warm scent that reminds you of holiday baked goods! Some familiar scent notes that can be recognized are ginger, vanilla, and cinnamon. The Exhale candle is Rosemary + Candied Citrus. This scent can be described as a rich masculine scent that is infused from citrus and herbs such as rosemary, tobacco, and cloves.
